We have a number of important issues to discuss:

• Claims - Including the latest interpretation from labor relations of what claims are payable by the local company lackeys, and what claims we were able to get paid in the last claims conference.

• Investigations – Some additional items that the company will be targeting you with, along with some information on how to prepare for investigations.

• Safety – Somehow the members and the company never seem to agree on how this is supposed to work. We have some ideas. We need your input.

• Dues Increase – Our committee is working harder than ever and taking a lot of unpaid time off. Please bring your suggestions and comments to the meeting.

• Joint Union Safety Meeting – We plan to have a kind of a safety party. I’m bringing a pot of chili and soda pop, (I have to work that night,) you can bring anything you like. We will be discussing injuries, F-27’s, safety reporting, arbitration award 419 opposed to FRA defects, and many other topics. The party is scheduled for Monday, October 20, 2008, from 16:00 to 21:00 in Hall “A” of the Teamster Hall in Tacoma.

• Third Annual Joint Union Tacoma Christmas Party – Scheduled for Saturday, December 6, 2008, from 17:00 until midnight. Get a hotel or call a cab. This is sponsored by our Designated Legal Council attorneys and should be the best one yet. Any suggestions are welcome.

We expect a good turnout for Tuesday’s meeting and have invited representatives from one of our DLC firms to answer any FELA or injury questions that you might have.
